VENUE

Roger Williams University is a leading independent, coeducational university where liberal arts education is paired with education for the professions. RWU’s mantra is “Learning to Bridge the World”…an ideal metaphor for a conference on teaching technology. Roger Williams University is located on a gorgeous ocean-front campus is historic Bristol, RI, about 15 miles south of Providence Rhode Island. The student population is 3,500, 10% of which are architecture majors. The campus is on a RIPTA bus line running between Providence and Newport. Downtown Bristol is accessible by this bus line, or by a pleasant 1.5 mile walk.
The BTES Conference would be hosted in the School of Architecture, Art and Historic Preservation located in the center campus, a short walk from the dorm and dining commons. All three of these are less than 10 years old! The architecture building was designed by William Kite Architects, a local firm who won a national blind competition in 1984. The building features an 85 seat lecture hall, seminar rooms and gallery space. The campus is on a peninsula between Narragansett and Mt. Hope Bays. The site of a former coastal farm that gently slopes to shore of Mt, Hope Bay. Just to the south of campus there is a campus recreation center, walking trails, and a waterfront recreation facility offering kayaks for rent. Downtown Bristol is a historic seaside village featuring an active harbor, and many fine restaurants and historic homes and museums open to the public.
